Inspired Momentum Newsletter,
December 05/January 06
In this issue:
Greetings,
2006, the New Year has entered our lives finding us in various states of mind and heart on the spectrums between fear and love, frustration and contentment, or unhappiness and bliss. And the issue of resolutions comes around again providing opportunities for people attempting to make changes. I recall seeing research indicating that most resolutions dissolve into a background of wishes not acted on within 2 to 3 months.
Personally and in through my work I recommend instead to set intentions and fuel a sense of resolve that keep these intentions alive, in active mode, at the forefront of your life: Some guidelines for this include:
- Sharpening your awareness of the choices you make moment by moment in your daily life, making sure that they are in alignment with your intentions.
- Creating and practicing new self-care habits that support your values and provide form and structure through which you creativity and well being can flow.
- Enlist the support of trusted friends (and perhaps a professional coach) to acknowledge and celebrate your gifts and talents while affirming your capacity to bring them into complete fruition.
- Keep in mind the finiteness and precariousness of life. This tends to generate a sense of compelling urgency that can bring you back into action if you loose your momentum towards your goals and your vision.
I was recently reminded of the precariousness of life by a close friend of mine who works as a social worker in cardiology at a local hospital. She was quite distraught as she told me about a young, bright, active woman in her mid-twenties who contracted a virus that damaged her heart and then passed away within a week. This is a painful reminder that we can not know when death will come, often unexpectedly, to take our life away. Paradoxically, living with that awareness also helps you gain a sense of gratitude for all that you have and for each and every moment.
One day at the time, yet with a long-term vision, I keep contributing and giving myself over to what I love: my children, my work through Inspired Momentum, my book project, my creativity, and slowly but more and more to our global community.
What will you give yourself over to this year? How will you infuse a sense of resolve behind your intentions?
Wishing you a delightful year, filled with the spirit of joy, serenity and prosperity.
In wholeheartedness,

Quotations I love
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 16, here are some quotations from a man who was the ultimate model of embodied intentionality and moral leadership:
“The concepts of love and power have usually been contrasted as opposites. What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive and that love without power is sentimental and anemic.”
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about what matters.”
“The hope of a secure, livable world lies with disciplined non-conformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.”
