Inspired News from Isabelle – Spring 2007 Issue

In this issue:

Welcome,

The day came when the risk to remain tight in bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” Anais Nin.

In the synchronicity of spring time, this quotation reminds me that we are born with an innate propensity to evolve and grow like the buds that are now bursting into blooms. Only, over time, with all of the conditioning we absorb, we often loose touch with that momentous desire to live in ever expanding cycles of stillness and motion on the trajectory of our hearts’ desires. Whether it’s in the context of your professional or personal life, I invite you to reflect on the last time you felt the urge to take a courageous, bold risk.  Perhaps you felt that urge because you sensed that the safety you had carefully constructed around yourself was becoming stifling or suffocating.  At which point does your shelter of safety become a prison? – is a worthwhile question.  Well…I support you to feel the pain of remaining “tight in bud” and then follow your soul-driven urge to risk, to spread your wings, to blossom.

If this unfolding flower could speak, it would be thrilled to have been adorned with this drop of water at its edge.  When I took that picture, I saw that the star effect came from the sun setting behind which found reflection in the drop.  This inspired me to think that you and I can position ourselves in the foundation of values we hold and become aligned with the light.  Then we can let this light shine through to others as it also illuminates our path.

May you welcome yourself into spring in bold and bright new ways.
And please read on and consider helping a Balinese’s dream come true.

Back from the SOL Conference in Atlanta

At the Society for Organizational Learning conference I attended in Atlanta last week, I was present to a vortex of ideas, principles and practices that connected us all in community.  Under the themes of Innovation and Sustainability, leading edge thinking and current, responsive trends in business kept me engaged in learning mode and stimulating conversations.
It was particularly encouraging to see that an increasing number of companies are taking real actions that are commensurate with their growing commitments towards social and environmental responsibility.

During one of the Learning Forum, Biologist Janine Benyus talked about the new science of Biomimicry.  Along with other consulting biologists in her organization, Janine guides companies into practical solutions using the intelligence of nature as model, measure and metaphor.  Along with enabling companies to come up with new designs and products, this field’s primary aim is to increase societal respect for the natural world.  This enhanced respect is a necessary ingredient in the transformation of our world towards life-affirming, sustainable ways of living, working and prospering.

At this event, I also lead a workshop on the 5 energies of authentic leadership for the youth delegation.  By the end of the conference, it was particularly rewarding to hear some of the young people talking to the large audience about their learning and that they felt heard and empowered.

The Buzz on Einstein’s Business

Einstein’s Business: Engaging Soul, Imagination and Excellence in the Workplace is a trail-blazing, new anthology that I initiated and co-authored last year.  I’ve heard numerous positive comments about it and I encourage you to look it up on my website.  The intro, which I wrote, and the table of contents are available to read online as well.  When you buy a book, 20% of the price goes to the funds I am raising to sponsor my Balinese friend Sang Tu to come to Vancouver for an educational opportunity.

Making a Balinese's Dream come to Life:

I met Sang Tu at the Artini 2 Hotel in Bali during the first Quest for Global Healing conference I attended in December 04.  After I got to know him and offered to send funds for some courses, he gratefully accepted and attended 3 courses over a year’s time. Last year in May, when I attended the second conference of QFGH, I enjoyed his company while he was my guide as we visited sacred temples.  Since last year, Sang Tu has been involved with the Bali Children’s Project, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and youth through education. He is now the Volunteer Coordinator for that organization and more recently, he has started to teach English to pre-school children.

Like many Balinese, Sang Tu always wished that he could come to our continent and experience our culture.  Now, I want to offer him that chance by raising funds (approx. $3,000.00) to enable him to come with me to Vancouver in August, as I return from another wonderful event in Bali . Here, Sang Tu would attend a 3 weeks intensive course for foreign students at the University of British Columbia and further improve his English while learning about our culture.  If you wish to participate in making this dream come true for this gracious, kind and wise young man, you could make a donation through the Bali Children Project website  and get a tax deductible receipt.  As you make the payment through Pay Pal, please specify, in the space provided, that it is for Sang Tu’s educational trip to Canada.  For more information about this, please call me at 604 708-1585 or e-mail: info@inspiredmomentum.com

Thanks in advance for considering this opportunity to make Sang Tu’s dream a reality.
