Inspired News from Isabelle – Spring 2008 Issue
In this issue:
Welcome,
In the gateway of springtime here in Vancouver, we long for the warmth that is soon to follow the sight of blossoming trees presently delighting our eyes.
I was recently in San Francisco area to network, reconnect with friends and take in some glorious sunshine. The photograph above was taken from the shores of Bodega Bay, California.
Wherever you are on our beloved planet, may you find blessings flourishing everywhere on your path.

Upcoming workshop on midlife and retirement
Living Passionately, on Purpose, in Midlife and Beyond
This one-day small-group workshop in Vancouver on Saturday June 21st is on the vision and practical considerations of re-engagement in anticipation of, or soon after, retirement. The precise location is to be announced. This workshop will deliver information, inspiration and insight-generating exercises and conversations for participants to:
- Embrace the transitional developmental tasks of the second half of life
- Understand the 8 success factors of a fulfilling re-engagement rather than a “retirement”
- Make conscious lifestyle choices to enhance their longevity, purposefulness and happiness
- Retrieve and re-energize dreams that faded in the busy, fast pace of life.
If this is of interest to you, please let me know as soon as possible by e-mail or a phone call (604 708-1585) and I will inform you of the details, time, location, cost, etc.
Ethics for Breakfast – May 13
At this event, organized by the Workplace Centre for Spiritual and Ethical Development I will speak about ethical dilemmas from my award-winning anthology Einstein’s Business: Engaging Soul, Imagination and Excellence in the Workplace.
As well, I’ll explore the difference between standing "for" what we want rather than "against" what we don’t want – and provide a caution about the risk of being "divisionary" rather than "visionary" in our fervor to promote ethical values.

The Portal to an Authentic Vocation Orientation for Youth
Purpose is the place where your deep gladness meets the world’s needs -Frederick Buechner
As part of life transitions coaching, I assist people in midlife and in younger generations to uncover and move into their authentic vocation. Recently, it’s come to my attention that there are few resources available to help young people orient themselves towards work that is truly satisfying and purposeful beyond just paying the bills.
One of my clients in her late teenage years said she noticed her peers getting caught up in putting economic considerations as their highest priority in attempt to figure out career choices. While we worked together, she discovered the factors of an authentic vocation and gained invaluable insights and information to guide her course. She felt validated in her intuitive knowing that her passions, her talents, and her abilities ought to be the building blocks of a fulfilling career.
A few months ago, I helped Véronique, a young woman in Quebec, achieve clarity after she struggled to make a major career/education decision. She recently reported having excelled in her last course of study. Then she was hired in a job beyond her expectations with relatively little experience in the field of environmental biology she is so passionate about. This is an example of taping the life force in the undercurrent of one’s true vocation: it tends to make us leap ahead.
If you work with young people or are connected with a high school or a college where the students need to be inspired and made aware of the 8 factors of authentic vocations, please contact me. I would be pleased to offer a dynamic presentation on this subject.
Upcoming events from the Bali Institute

My passion for Bali, its people, traditions and the special friends I have there keep me riveted to the news of what is to unfold on this wondrous island. My love for that part of the world was born out of attending two Quest for Global Healing conferences and presenting at last year’s event – Awakening Global Action. Marcia Jaffee is the founder of these amazing conferences. She has now developed the Bali Institute which offers transformative learning through workshops that focus on leadership, global activism and indigenous wisdom.
Please visit the website www.baliinstiture.org to see the upcoming wonderful workshops.
Resources/Books I recommend
As part of my final research in completing my book Living Forward, Giving Back, I have discovered three new books I highly recommend. Even if you can’t take one more book on the stack of those perhaps waiting to be read on your bedside table, you may enjoy accessing the information and useful tools available on the authors’ websites.
The books are:
It’s Not About The Money – Unlock your money type to achieve spiritual and financial abundance by Brent Kessel.
His website is www.brentkessel.com
The New IQ – How Integrity Intelligence serves You, Your Relationships and Our World by David Gruder, Ph.D.
The website is www.TheNewIQ.com
In the Spirit of Leadership – A Vision into a Different Future by Cheryl Esposito.
This is a wonderful book of poetic elegance, beauty and soul-nourishing inspiration on embodying an authentic leader’s way of being.
Her site is: www.cherylesposito.com
